Member-Guest Preparation Week

The Member-Guest tournament is the final "major" of the year for the agronomy team at St. James. We consider this the most important tournament of the year at the Clubs. The image of our Clubs to the membership and their guests is showcased during Member-Guest week. Whether it be to attract new membership, increase outside play or generate envy of our Clubs, the Member-Guest event is crucial to our success.
We as an agronomy team pull out all the stops for the M-G tournament. All hosting clubs put in ten plus hour days and even return on some evenings to prepare the courses for this event. St. James P.R.I.D.E. organizes their golf course appreciation days prior to the M-G tournaments. The golf professionals put in extra time to ensure the event is organized and executed without a hitch. The team effort that goes into the Member-Guest tournament is unmatched at any other time during the season.
This season the Member-Guest will be played on the Founders, Players and the Reserve clubs. We will have the greens rolling at ten and a half feet on the Stimpmeter. The fairways, tees and approaches will be cut slightly above a half of an inch. The rough grass is becoming less dense and was mowed at two inches this week. The playing conditions at all three clubs are the best they have been all season. We are excited for the membership to showcase their courses to friends and family.
Although the Member-Guest tournament marks the end of the growing season here at St. James our blog will continue to move forward. You can expect more informative posts on such topics as, lawn care, pest control and best golf course practices. We are always looking to improve our operation here at St. James Plantation. Should you have any topics regarding the agronomy team, please feel free to comment and we will address those subjects as soon as possible. Thank you from the agronomy team here at St. James and please continue to follow the blog through the winter months.
