Golf Course Appreciation Days

Golf Course Appreciation Days, or GCAD, is a bi-annual event orchestrated by St. James P.R.I.D.E. This event is designed to help spruce up the golf courses prior to the Member-Guest tournaments. GCAD is held at each of the golf courses for one afternoon before the M-G tournaments.

GCAD, lead by organizer Steve Cherry, generally has a turnout anywhere from 30-60 members. The members are split into groups and assigned a specific number of holes. The groups are given golf carts equipped with trash cans, rakes, gloves, pickers and buckets of sand. It is up to the individuals on which tasks they choose to perform. Some of the common tasks include, raking debris, cleaning debris, filling divots, fixing ball marks, and general trash removal.

Golf Course Appreciation Days began in 2009 and has increased in popularity with each passing year. Mr. Cherry and his group do an excellent job of organizing this event. The agronomy team is extremely grateful for the effort that Mr. Cherry, St. James P.R.I.D.E., and the volunteers put forth each season.
