Golf course maintenance operations are extremely
busy in the summer months. On a typical
morning in the warm months the crews at St. James work hard to mow and set up
81 holes for play. An operation this
large takes a lot of planning and preparation to be successful. It is imperative that we set our operations
up to be the most efficient that they can be.
That is why during the winter months we do special “projects” to make us
more efficient during the months the golf courses are more active.
One
of this year’s main projects is building a shelving system that will allow us to store
more pesticides and fertilizer. By
building these shelves, we will be able to easily store products that we use to produce the best playing conditions possible for the membership at St. James Plantation. We will be building a total of 10 shelves for
the Reserve and Players Club this season. Our hope
is to have the shelves finished by the end of this week.
