This year, the Players, Members, and Founders Clubs
are due for their Audubon International recertification. To obtain a recertification from Audubon each
course must complete the necessary paperwork, and participate in an on-site
visit from a third party representative for Audubon. On April 1st, Brunswick Community
College instructor Jace Myers and his 2nd year students came out to
participate in the on-site visit portion of the process. The
visit included stops at all 3 shops and the questions focused on how the golf
course maintenance operation takes the proper steps to protect the surrounding
environment.
The
students were a very vital part of the process.
Jace assigned 2 students to each course that was responsible for asking
the questions provided by Audubon. The categories
of questions range from water conservation efforts to wildlife found on the
course. The students recorded the answers to the questions in the handbook, and
submitted them to Audubon later that afternoon for final approval. On April 2nd, the golf course
maintenance portion of the paperwork was turned in for final review. In the next few days Audubon International
will inform the courses of the outcome of our recertification efforts.
