Last Week 7/7/14 through 7/11/14

·        Founders Club was closed three days, midweek.

o   Thin areas of turf on fairways and tees were verticut and fertilized. Verticutting can be described as mowing with a thin blade that cuts perpendicular to the ground; opposed to a traditional mower that cuts horizontally. Verticutting encourages lateral growth.

o   While we were closed a layer of fresh topsoil was tilled into the weak areas on hills beside #1 tee. After tilling, sprigs were laid and incorporated into the turf, followed by fertilizer and water. Hopefully, the hills will have a crisp look soon.

o   A local contractor was hired to replace the concrete on both ends of the bridge on hole #4. The old concrete, over time, had sunken below the boards. As of today, the path is level once again. Smooth Sailing!

o   Audubon International understands and permits us to handcut the wetlands on the golf courses. During the few days we had without play, we took the opportunity to open up the line of sight between the fairway and the green.

Note the fresh concrete-smooth and level with the bridge!
