What's happening - Members Club

As you know the Members Club was closed last week. The primary reason for being closed was for green's aerification. Although laborious and time consuming aerification is not the only project we do during closed times. Here is a brief list of some other tasks we were able to complete and initiate.

Last Week 6/2-6/8

  • Aerified tees - This will soften the tees and help them to recover from divots faster.
  • Sliced thin areas in the fairways and rough.
  • Verticut thin fairways to aide in lateral growth. Here is a link detailing vertical mowing.
  • Topdressed thin areas with sand. This will also encourage lateral growth.
  • Fertilized the entire course
  • Applied insecticide (wall to wall) for grub, mole cricket and armyworm control.
  • Completed irrigation repairs.
  • Sodded bare areas throughout the course.
  • Cleaned and repainted all the tee markers.
  • Installed numerous yardage blocks along the cart path.

We were able to see most of these tasks to completion. The inclement weather carried some of these jobs over into this week. We will continue to verticut and fertilize weak areas throughout this week. We will also continue to replace the yardage blocks along the cart path. As always feel free to comment on this post and remember to follow along with the blog for the latest news from St. James maintenance team.
