Over the next month North Carolina State extension specialists, Matt Martin and Travis Gannon will be conducting field trials at the Players Club. The trials will take place on the 13th and 16th fairways. There will be three plots total laid out on the two fairways. Two plots will be for testing a herbicide and one will be for testing a nematicide (treatment for nematodes).
The herbicide is being tested for its efficacy in transitioning from ryegrass to Bermuda in fairways. The nematicide is being tested to determine the amount of phytotoxicity caused to ryegrass turf stands. Each product will be tested using multiple rates and application frequencies. The plots will be tested and checked weekly. Here are some pictures of the plots and the guys mapping them out.
